How damage works in Olden Era

Every attack rolls a base damage between the unit's min and max, multiplies by stack size, then scales by (20 + ATK) / (20 + DEF) โ€” equal stats cancel out, and defense can never make a stack invulnerable. Each point of positive luck adds a 6% chance of a 150% Lucky Strike (negative luck: 6% per point of a 50% strike). Each point of positive morale gives a 4% chance of an extra turn. Ranged units deal โˆ’50% in melee and lose 10% per hex past 4, capped at โˆ’50%. The "avg damage" figure folds the luck odds into the expected value; kills use the defender's per-unit HP; retaliation is computed from the survivors of the average roll.
